Join Us for the 5th Annual Corke Classic: Golfing for a Cause, Supporting Hematology/BMT Patient Support Fund!

In December 2020, David Corke, Head Coach of a high-performance soccer program at Coastal FC, faced a sudden and devastating turn of events. What started as back pain while coaching soccer led to a shocking diagnosis: leukemia. Amidst the challenges of chemotherapy and isolation during a pandemic, David found solace in the care and expertise of Dr. Maryse Power and the healthcare teams at VGH.

Despite the grueling treatment, David persevered, buoyed by the support of his family and the compassionate care he received. Now, in remission since April 2021, David is deeply grateful for the dedication of his care team. To express his gratitude and support others facing similar challenges, David, along with his family and friends, launched the "Corke Classic" fundraising campaign.

The "Corke Classic" began modestly in 2021 with 60 golfers, raising funds to assist patients and their families with everyday expenses. With overwhelming community support, the event has grown, attracting 180 golfers and raising $20,000 in 2023 alone. 

For David, this initiative is more than a fundraiser; it's a way to give back and provide support to those navigating the difficult journey of cancer treatment.
