Where to Shop - Supreme Tattoos

Supreme Tattoos Chilliwack.jpg

Supreme Tattoos (located at 46135 Yale Rd. East - map below) has been in Chilliwack for 19 years now, and they are known for more than just their tattoos and piercings - they are known to have a big heart and care about downtown Chilliwack.

Frank, the owner, gave us the privilege of watching them work in their shop.  We saw genuine people who put a lot of heart into their work to create something they are proud to have stand beside their name; from designing the initial piece, to collaborating together to get the perfect stencil placement, to the actual tattooing, they put a lot of care into their pieces.

Whether you contact them online or pop into the shop, Supreme Tattoos will set you up and make sure you are matched up with the best artist for the tattoo you have in mind.

Unforgettable - Where To Shop In Chilliwack

Unforgettable Chilliwack second hand stores.JPG

Unforgettable is a resale clothing store that moved beside The Book Man on Wellington (see map below) several years ago, but we only just discovered it (recommended to us by Michelle E Toupin and Ashley Scissorhands)!

On our first visit to Unforgettable, we found a shop buzzing with a loyal customer base, all seemingly known to the owner, which is always something nice to see.  We also discovered a vast array of second-hand boots and shoes, all in great condition, with great prices; vintage and modern purses; racks of clothing; jewelry; band t-shirts; and probably our favourite rack – jackets and coats, which carried a bit of everything!  At the back of the store are some collectables, memorabilia, records and a clearance rack.

Unforgettable thrift stores chilliwack.JPG

As an economical/financial solution, some look to buying second-hand, others see it as part of building a sustainable environment, some see it as a way to find a unique piece for their home or to wear, and others just love treasure hunting.  Either way, Unforgettable is worth a stop!

GP Home Furniture - The Yeti Gift

GP Home Furniture - The Yeti Gift

GP Home Furniture - The Yeti Gift

We just got through the holiday season and the last thing you’re probably thinking about is having to buy more gifts. Heck, you probably just got your credit card bill and you’re wondering why you spent so much in the last month anyways!

Imagine being the kid born at the beginning of January?! Talk about getting the short end of the stick. Sure you’re the oldest kid in your class, but the rest of your life you’re having to compete with Christmas and New Year’s. People are partied out and fully engaged in their new year’s resolutions and all you want is people to come celebrate your birthday.

GP Home Furniture - The Yeti Gift

Finding the perfect gift for someone like that can be tough.
However, you can make it memorable with a high quality, durable and lasting gift that’s also personalized. Perhaps you can get their name on the side OR a nickname; some people have even had an image of their pet engraved, favourite sports team and of course a humorous quote or image.

The possibilities are endless and the daily joy of using a superb product from Yeti will be a gift that someone who can often feel forgotten, remembered.

Future Gift Ideas:
Grad 2020 - perhaps a personalized Yeti for the grad(s) in your life? Congratulate them on their success.
Anniversary - share your love and memorable day with a Yeti Rambler.
Birthdays - give that special someone something to remember you by on each sip of their beverage.
Just Because - who wouldn’t love getting a great gift like a Yeti mug, bottle or rambler with a unique engraving for them?!

Brightside Eggs - Local Free Range Organic Eggs

78477148_2451285441800656_8859449437705994240_o.jpg

We saw a dancing chicken on the side of Evans Rd, and discovered our first ever self-serve store with delicious eggs!

Brightside Eggs is a family-run pop-in shop off of Evans Rd. (6899 Evans Rd - map below) that prides itself on putting hand-picked and hand-packed, quality free-range and delicious eggs from their organic egg farm onto your table.

We are happy to hear that the Brightside birds are cageless, free to roam, scratch and fly around, but with this cold snap we are having right now, though they are kept free to roam and cageless, they are also kept warm and safe inside the barn. But when that weather is warmer the doors are opened, so keep an eye out for the hens outside in the centre pasture!

According to Brightside, who are 3rd generation farmers, they raise their own chicks from babies until 19 weeks to guarantee the “health and wellness of [their] girls from chicks all the way to laying”. Their farm stand is completely cashless, and the vending machine accepts tap debit and credit cards. The eggs are free range organic and are priced at $7/doz, $13/2 doz, or $16/flat of 30.

We love supporting and encouraging family run business in Chillwack, especially a business that spends so much time, care and pride over their product (and their birds)!

Hair by Michellee Toupin and Ashley Scissorhands - Hair Salons in Chilliwack

In an alleyway just off of Mill Street lies a little hair studio with big personalities; Ashley Scissorhands and Hair by Michellee Toupin.  We first discovered Michelle and Ashley when we were told they were THE one’s to go to for bright hair colour, but it turns out that they are all around fantastic hair artists.

Ashley and Michelle seem to have their fingers not only in your hair but also on the pulse of downtown.  As we said on our Instagram post, being in their salon makes us feel like we just got to hang out at the cool kids table, and it’s not just from their eclectic decor (which includes both skulls and quotable embroidery) and their Google Play playlist!

There always seems to be some kind of action at their salon; whether it is visitors from nearby businesses or clipboard-carrying movie set people walking around outside. Birdie’s Bakery also seems to become a topic of conversation during every visit…which often leads to a Birdie’s visit after the salon.  And somehow, these two women always seem to be able to find someone to bring them a tea or latte!

Whether it’s a classic cut and colour, balayage, foils, an up-do, or something big, bright or bold, these two women have you covered (while also covering that gray!).

Unika - Where to Buy Women's Clothing, Accessories and Gifts in Chilliwack

Unika - Where to Buy Women's Clothing, Accessories and Gifts in Chilliwack

Unika at Garrison Crossings in Chilliwack

Unika at Garrison Crossings in Chilliwack

Unika Clothing and Accessories identifies themselves as a “resale boutique”, and we completely agree. With both new and used clothing, footwear and hand bags, Unika brings a fresh, contemporary look on how to go green on your clothing and accessories, while ensuring you have a selection of quality pieces to choose from.

With two locations - Chilliwack and Langley (#6 - 45575 Keith Wilson Rd, Chilliwack, see map below), Unika has been highly spoke of by several sources, and we could see why. The store is airy, trendy, and laid out with beautiful displays. Identifying themselves as a modern boutique is very accurate, as it is in a completely category all its own, not resembling any consignment store we have been to.

New comfy fall sweaters, chic dresses, trendy purses and beautiful scarves were an inviting feature featured prominently throughout the store, and the second-hand clothing was displayed nicely and easily identified by a green clip on the hangers. As a “resale boutique”, Unika looks for items according to the seasons, and on their website they make it easy to learn specifics on how their consignment works, with a list of their most desired brands.

The staff at Unika was very friendly and helpful, and we quickly learned how Unika is a big supporter of local artisans, featuring soaps, candles, necklaces, bracelets and more, all acquired locally or from the surrounding ares. We were also told that once someone has been there once, they keep on coming back, and that seemed to be true with amount of customers we saw.

With limited local choices for women’s wear, Unika is a place locals can be proud of.

Winks - Home, Garden & Gifts - Where to Shop in Chilliwack

Winks shopping in Chilliwack.jpg

“Make it Beautiful” - the tagline of Winks store, which is partly why we stopped by; because sometimes you just like to look at, buy or be around pretty things! Established for over 8 years, Winks is located on the corner of Vedder Rd and Stevenson (map below), in a shop offsite from a white house, which adds to it’s unique charm.

When asked about her product lines, Winks enthusiasm and passion shined through - not only for her products, but for the art and the artisans behind each piece. We have highlighted some of those beautiful pieces in the photos below: Sophie Conran dinnerware, Beekman 1802 goat soap (owned by former Amazing Race winners!), Sid Dickens memory blocks (hand-crafted in Vancouver), and the purrha jewellery, which is hand-made using antique seals.

If you are looking for a unique gift, or something special for the home, be sure to check out Winks where her and her staff will be happy to help.

Payton & Buckle Fine Footwear - Where To Shop In Chilliwack

Payton and Buckle Fine Footwear_01.jpg

Payton & Buckle Fine Footwear - Where To Shop In Chilliwack

There’s something special about walking into a well-established downtown store that specializes so well in a particular item, that you know you will find just what you are looking for.

Payton & Buckle Fine Footwear (located at 45930 Wellington Ave map below - with locations also in Abbotsford & Pitt Meadows) is the perfect place to find quality shoes, boots and sandals for every member in your family.

The small and quaint store is filled with beautiful displays, and when we stopped in, they were fully ready for the fall season. Upon entering the store, we were immediately met by a wonderful employee who was quick to help with our requests. As the employee went to the back room to look for more products, we perused through the store shelves and found nearly countless options of footwear, and in various price ranges; from their sales shelves to the higher end displays, you’re bound to find what you’re looking for in foot wear.

In particular, we found the mens section to be surprisingly vast in its variety. Typically, a men’s foot wear section is limited to athletic or work safe options, but Payton & Buckle offered everything from work boots, to casual wear and dress shoes. Payton & Buckle is an incredible addition to our downtown core, and one that we should all be proud patrons of.

From their website:
”Owner John Laanstra has been in the shoe business for over 30 years, getting his start in 1981 when he was hired as a salesman. Nine years later he purchased a portion of the business. After a great working relationship with his business partner, he decided to buy the entire company in 2007. At that time with only one store location, Chilliwack,  he saw an opportunity and decided to expand the business.

August 2009 saw the opening of a second store with its location in Abbotsford and October 2013 was the opening of a third and located in Pitt Meadows.”
