3rd Annual Chilliwack Rotary Climate Fair
Rotary clubs around the world focus on seven key areas, one of which is protecting the environment and addressing climate change. One of the ways that the Rotary Club of Chilliwack has acted is by hosting Rotary Climate Fairs. In 2022, Rotary’s Climate Change Action Group (CCAG) committed to organizing three of these events, offering a platform for Rotarians, community leaders, industry professionals, and the public to meet experts, exchange ideas, learn, and forge new connections to help create a cleaner future.
The 2025 Rotary Climate Fair, taking place on April 12-13, will be the third event of its kind in Chilliwack, and it promises to be the largest yet. With nearly 60 organizations already registered, this grand finale will showcase sustainability and environmental action on an unprecedented scale. The event, which will be held at the Landing Sports Centre, is free and family friendly.
This exciting event will inspire and empower attendees to make choices that lead to a brighter future. Participants can explore innovative home building solutions, meet sustainability experts, and hear from world-class speakers discussing critical topics such as the role of media in climate change, the transition to renewable energy, and the health impacts of climate change on both humans and animals. Presentations will also cover subjects like wildfires, forest dynamics, social-ecological resilience, and the importance of engaging with Indigenous communities.
Additional sessions will delve into urban ecological footprints, the challenges of sustainable living, and the need for inclusive sustainability efforts that address discrimination and ensure everyone can contribute to a sustainable future.
For families, there will be a variety of hands-on activities, including interactive booths, a Kids Play Zone, and face painting! The trade show will feature renewable energy technologies and sustainability programs, giving attendees the opportunity to learn about programs and explore career options with forward-thinking organizations.
“The booths and presentations at the Climate Fair are designed to educate and inspire attendees to make the changes needed for a better future for our children” said Robyn Curtis, Chair of the Chilliwack Rotary Climate Change Action Group.
