Home Away from Home Pet Hotel

Home Away from Home Pet Hotel

Tamara started Home Away from Home Pet Hotel because of her lifelong love for animals—especially dogs. When her and her family purchased five acres in Rosedale, she knew she wanted to create something from home that truly reflected her passion. Her vision was to build a kennel with a warm, welcoming atmosphere—more than just a boarding facility, but a true Home Away from Home for dogs. A place where they could enjoy their own little vacation while their owners were away.

To bring this dream to life, she reached out to Community Futures for guidance. They have shown to be incredibly supportive, offering valuable resources and assistance in many aspects of starting a business. With their help, she was able to turn her vision into reality and officially open The Pet Hotel.

They are a small, 12-run facility where every dog has its own individual indoor/outdoor space, complete with cozy beds, blankets, toys, and dishes to make their stay as comfortable as possible. Beyond the hotel, they also have a large dog park where their guests get daily exercise, playtime, and plenty of fun.

At Home Away from Home Pet Hotel, they’re dedicated to providing a safe, loving environment where dogs feel happy and at ease—just like they would at home.

Cliff Prang is a professional actor, comedian, writer and producer. It has been said that he looks like a young George Clooney, but more like Johnny Knoxville. It is not lost on him that people think he is a JACKASS. He has been in love with making people laugh since birth and has a full menu of comedy options including stand up, improv, speaking, emceeing, and auctioneering and delivers those services to a broad spectrum of audiences at bars, clubs, schools, churches, fundraisers, corporate events, Zoom and even once at a funeral.

Cliff's commercials can be seen on pretty much every network. He has also played roles on SuperGirl, Supernatural, Girlfriend's Guide to Divorce, the INBETWEEN and most recently ALASKA DAILY alongside two-time Oscar Winner, Hilary Swank.

As a comic, he has shared the stage with Deborah DiGiovanni, SNL's Chris Kattan, and the late great Canadian Legend, Mike MacDonald. Reader's Digest lauds him as one of Canada's 50 Comedians to watch, but his parents still don’t think he is that funny.

People have asked him, “Out of all that you do, which is your favourite?”

The answer is “All of it... How dare you question me."

Who's this for?

Would you describe yourself as a creative entrepreneur, freelancer, filmmaker, media specialist, software engineer, marketer, animator, technologist, commercial photographer, videographer, designer, writer, maker, web developer or inventor? Or maybe you just like hanging out with other creative types? Then, this is for you!

Creative Third Thursdays is a creative networking event series brought to you by the Chilliwack Creative Commission and Cowork Chilliwack. Sexy Laundry - Chilliwack Cultural Centre

Sexy Laundry - Chilliwack Cultural Centre

Get ready to laugh, blush, and relate with the Arts Club’s Sexy Laundry!

Delight in the revival of an Arts Club favourite with the sidesplittingly funny Sexy Laundry! On November 5, you can witness the hilarious and heartwarming performance that will inspire you to embrace love in all its messy, funny and beautiful glory! This sharp and playful play, written by Canadian Michele Riml, will leave you laughing and reflecting on the ups and downs of long-term relationships.

In Sexy Laundry, Alice and Henry are coming to grips with their lacklustre sex life. Time, kids, and stress—not to mention gravity—have taken their toll. In an effort to rekindle the magic in their twenty-five-year marriage, they go on a naughty hotel retreat, equipped with a copy of Sex for Dummies. But they soon find that when the clothes come off, so do the gloves.

Sexy Laundry is a life-affirming romcom! It is very funny because it rings very true. People see themselves in Alice and Henry’s struggle to fall back in love,” says Director Diana Donnelly. “The play looks at the midlife reckoning, at how society values us differently as we age, but most of all Sexy Laundry is about the joy of long love—despite everything. If Alice and Henry can reconnect, we all can.”

Audiences can expect an evening full of laughter, wit, and a surprising amount of tenderness as Alice and Henry work through the trials and triumphs of long-term love. Sexy Laundry is the perfect night out for couples, friends, or anyone who enjoys a good laugh and a touching story about the complexities of relationships.

“This insightful and humourous piece is one that has resonated with our audiences and those around the world, and for very good reason,” explains The Arts Club’s Artistic Director Ashlie Corcoran. “When acted with a beautiful balance of comedy with a real depth of intimacy, Diana and I both believe that this piece will speak to an audience in a way that feels very personal and very funny.”

You will find yourself laughing at the awkward moments, sympathizing with the struggles, and cheering for the couple as they rediscover each other.

Sexy Laundry is coming to the Chilliwack Cultural Centre on November 5, 2024 at 7:30 pm. Tickets are $49, with Patron Program discounts available, and can be purchased at the Centre Box Office, online at chilliwackculturalcentre.ca, or by calling 604-391-SHOW(7469).

Very Very Improv - Chilliwack 2024-25

Very Very Improv - Chilliwack 2024-25

After a wildly successful debut season, Very Very Improv is back and ready to keep The Valley laughing with talented new improvisers joining the loveable cast to bring more city-quality comedy to the ‘burbs.

“Life in the suburbs doesn’t need to be dry and dull”, says Very Very Improv’s Managing Artistic Director Scott Campbell. “We’re giving people a reason to get off their couch on a Saturday night.”

Campbell says, “Vancouver can feel like a long way to drive for professional performing arts experiences and Langley’s lack of appropriately funded performing arts venues only makes the problems worse. Very Very Improv is an oasis of fun for anyone who needs a good laugh.”

Returning to the VVI cast are Chilliwack’s Cliff Prang and Josh Wilson, Langley’s Dimitri Shields, Cloverdale’s Lucy Darlington, Vancouver’s Mike deBoer and Deb Sears, and North Vancouver’s Delaney Gilmor.

Joining the cast are Maple Ridge’s Graham Myers, Russ Brummer, and Mikaela Myers, and Abbotsford’s Alison Chisholm.

“Comedy improv won’t solve all the world’s problems, but it can spark a little joy and remind us that we’re all in this together.”

Very Very Improv is offering a full season of improv shows at The Bez Arts Hub including Monthly Mainstage on the last Saturday of each month starting in September; Holiday Fishbowl Challenge on December 27 and 28, 2024; and Very Very Valentines on February 15, 2024. The company also produces regular shows at the Cowork Chilliwack Studio and will be headlining Abbotsford’s Gallery7 Theatre’s annual comedy festival in October 2024. The company also offers improv training and is available to book for private events.

Tickets for all performances are on sale now and available online at veryveryimporv.ca/tickets

Join the fun! You’ll laugh lots.

Stunning acrobatics and choreography weave through emotions, uncovering the threads that bind us all.

Long spools of white rope run through pulley sheaves and wrap around bodies, explicitly connecting the artists’ movements above and off the ground. The actions of one acrobat affect and implicate the movements of others in a mesmerizing negotiation of cause and effect. By A Thread weaves virtuosic acrobatics and intricate choreography through moments of confusion, hilarity, romance, playfulness, fear, and friendship, uncovering the threads of connection present in all relationships. More than mere bodies in space, By A Thread is an exploration of tensions physical, emotional, and relational.

Spring Break Art Camps at the Chilliwack Cultural Centre

Spring Break Art Camps at the Chilliwack Cultural Centre

Turn your kids spring break into a memorable journey of artistic creativity!

Ignite the imagination and inner artist in your child this spring break with the Spring Break Art Camps at the Chilliwack Cultural Centre. From March 18 to 28, young artists are invited to immerse themselves in a world of artistic exploration, self-discovery, and pure creative joy. With a flexible class schedule and wildly diverse opportunities for your child to explore their creative side, this will be a spring break to remember!

“Exposure to making art addresses the need for creativity in our lives – allowing children to be who they are, and to use that knowledge to create any kind of art is so crucial to the human experience,” says Trischa Buhler, the Education Programs Manager. “Fine motor skills get further refined when a child holds a new art tool, language development happens when they are taught new art terminology, and creating art enhances their visual-spatial skills. In an art camp setting, children are allowed the freedom to express themselves, be creative, take risks, discover new passions, and develop new ideas.”

With 30 classes to pick and choose from, your kids will not only have the chance to try new things, but to also explore and learn more about the activities that already interest them. Exploring the incredibly popular style of Anime teaches kids how to draw their own characters, All About Uke and Guitar Heroes offer an opportunity to pick up an instrument and learn the basics, while Passport to Art shows your child how artists around the world express themselves in their cultures. Your kids can also learn how to craft their own stories in Start Your Story, where they will learn the basics of creating a story readers can’t put down. Packed with even more opportunities, this fun selection of art classes will excite and inspire creativity.

Alongside these fabulous classes, the Dungeons & Dragons Spring Break Camps will take kids on a heroic adventure! Our experienced Dungeon Master will start each session off with a little creativity, from character creation, miniature painting to costume and props! Each session will include two hours of gameplay, which will teach the players cooperation, storytelling, respect, and how to take those courageous steps needed to complete their campaign.

The camps run from March 18 to 22 and 25 to 28, and are filled with all kinds of activities that include everything from arts and crafts to performance, music, and dance. The wide selection makes an excellent match for all kinds of young artists, no matter what their interests.

Give your child a spring break to remember as they explore their creativity, make new friends, and create lasting memories at The Centre.

The Centre’s Spring Break Art Camps are available for kids aged 5–15, and with sessions broken into categories for 5-7 and 8–11 for the Spring Break Camps, and 8-11 and 11-15 year-olds for Dungeons & Dragons Camps, your children will get an art experience catered to their age.

To learn more about class schedules, descriptions, registration and more, make sure to either drop by The Centre and pick up a Spring Break Art Camps brochure, visit chilliwackculturalcentre.ca, or contact The Centre Box Office at 604-391-SHOW(7469).
