By 1971, the gravel pit had been transformed into Sardis Pond, which wasn’t just a pretty feature—it became a recreational hotspot.

During this time, swimming in the pond was wildly popular. On warm summer days, kids would splash and play in the cool water while parents lounged nearby. For many longtime residents, memories of Sardis Pond are filled with laughter, friends, and the magic of those carefree summers.

The pond was even stocked with trout, turning it into a favorite fishing spot for locals. Families would spend weekends by the water, casting lines, picnicking, and soaking in the natural beauty.

7. Spray Parks

Sure there may be no waterslides at them, but the splash pads offer a fun free way to keep cool this summer. There are 3 spray parks in Chilliwack - the largest of which is outside the Chilliwack Landing Leisure Centre, and boasts 16 above ground features, 24 ground sprays, and a “Big Top Soaker” with 170L of dumping power. The other two parks are: Cheam Centre Spray Park located at 45501 Market Way in Garrison, and Central Community Park located at 45943 Victoria Avenue.

8. The Chilliwack Pump Track

Located between the Chilliwack Curling Club and Landing Leisure Centre, the Chilliwack Pump Track is the longest pump track of it’s kind in North America! It is a great place to try a new skill while getting some exercise.
