Fieldhouse Brewing - Where To Eat Downtown Chilliwack

Fieldhouse Brewing - Where To Eat Downtown Chilliwack

Have you visited District 1881 in Downtown Chilliwack lately?

We headed to Fieldhouse Brewing with Kristina Legault to sample some of the non-alcoholic beverages and appies.

You can check out the other appies we’ve been trying out with Kristina Around Chilliwack… here.

Root Beer Craft Soda, Mojito and Lemon Ice Tea By Good Drink; all great alternatives when work summons you back for the afternoon!  Everyone loves a good meat + cheese board with salty prepared meats, local cheese, house-made bacon jam, spicey mustard and yummy crisps. The hot and gooey spinach and artichoke dip provided a hot flavour-filled appie. Gorgeous décor and a huge patio perfect for our hot weather. We will be going back to sample the beer and pizza on a weekend evening!

Scoops of Delight: The Best Ice Cream Places to Check Out in Chilliwack

The weather is heating up, but the line-ups are not… yet - Spring is the perfect time to treat yourself to an ice cream cone, and there are plenty of local spots to choose from. Here are four great options in Chilliwack to satisfy your sweet tooth on any day.

  1. Sticky's Garrison

Located in the charming Garrison Village, Sticky's Garrison is a specialty candy store that also offers big scoops of ice cream at great prices year-round. Their flavor selection includes all the best fun classics, like bubblegum, cotton candy, mint chip, espresso flake, birthday cake and more. It's the perfect place to enjoy a cone with friends or family, and their selection of candy and treats is worth checking out too.

  2. Banter Ice Cream

Banter Ice Cream is a small, locally owned shop located at The Eddy by the Vedder Bridge. Their freezers are stocked with house-made ice cream, including resident favorites and four monthly specialty flavors. Past options have included Lucky Charms, Carrot Cake, Dunkaroos, and Vegan Mango Chili. The shop's location near the Vedder River makes it a great spot for a springtime stroll.

  3. Kent's Ice Cream Co.

Kent's Ice Cream Co. is a staple of the Chilliwack community, with their main location open year-round. Their Yale Road location offers daily ice cream cones and take-home options with various gluten-free, dairy-free, and sugar-free options available. Their Cultus location opens on the May Long Weekend, and rumor has it they'll be opening a third location in Garrison Village this year.

  4. Mighty Moose Ice Cream While Mighty Moose Ice Cream isn't open for the season quite yet, they're definitely worth keeping an eye on. Their amazing flavor selection and charming outdoor seating area in the quaint little town of Yarrow make them a perennial favorite. Check their social media for updates on their opening day.

No matter which of these four options you choose, you're sure to find a delicious and satisfying ice cream cone to enjoy on a sunny spring day. So head out and indulge in this classic treat – you won't regret it!

Food Trucks Along the Vedder

The Vedder Rotary Trail has sure become a busy place over the last decade. What was once a quiet route to walk or ride, is now bustling with people, bikes, and animals rain or shine. And as businesses started to take note of the increased foot traffic, food trucks started popping up at some of the different parking lot entrances.

Although some may miss the quiet days of the past - the tacos, the coffee, and all the other offerings are very welcome additions to the trail system!

Legends Bistro - Cultus Lake Golf Club

Legends Bistro - Cultus Lake Golf Club

We are on the hunt for the best appetizers in Chilliwack and leading the way is Kristina Legault.
We’re partnering with her to help you find the best appies in town. Check out her last expedition here.

Golf season is ramping up and Kristina headed over to Legends Bistro at Cultus Lake Golf Club to check out their selection of appetizers.

Braised beef sliders, parmesan truffle fries, mozza sticks and chili chicken bites made up our selection for shareables. Her favorite besides the truffle fries? Seriously, how can you go wrong ordering truffle fries, especially on a rainy day?!

The braised beef sliders were by far the best; the tender flavourful beef paired with chipotle mayo was the perfect way to start off this amazing selection of snacks.

The major bonus of sitting in Legends Bistro's restaurant is watching golfers at the practice putting green and walking in from the 9th hole and the gorgeous 18th hole with pond overlooking the course. Do this while sampling a variety of appetizers and you'll find a great way to spend time with friends and of course a meal.

Hugo's Mexican Kitchen Appetizers - Kristina Legault Local Realtor

Hugo's Mexican Kitchen Appetizers - Kristina Legault Local Realtor

Previously we went around Chilliwack looking for the best Eggs Benedict but now we are working alongside Kristina Legault to find the best appetizers in town.

It’s 2023 and we are back at it; this round, we are checking out the best local spots for appetizers! We stopped in at Hugo’s Mexican Kitchen at 7101 Vedder Rd where you will find home cooking, tons of flavour and a welcoming atmosphere.  You can’t have Mexican food without the chips, salsa and guac! We tested all the heat levels of salsa; mild, medium and hot and the hot was even achievable for these light weights. A healthy portion of guacamole and satisfying crispy salty chips made this appetizer a delicious munchy.  Next up, sampler tacos; we had 3 vegetarian and 3 meat options which could easily make a meal with the generous portions plus tortilla soup which was hearty and tasty.

My personal favorite is always a chicken enchilada; do you choose red or green sauce? I love the green for the extra kick, this was one of the best enchiladas I’ve ever had and will definitely be going back. Even baby Stevie enjoyed some samplers!  Of course, spice level appropriate.

Make sure to head down to this local family restaurant and if you are in Kelowna, check them out at 3499 Lakeshore Road!

Steve's Poké Bar - Where To Eat in Chilliwack

Steve's Poké Bar - Where To Eat in Chilliwack

New in town is a fresh, high quality ingredient Poké bar named Steve’s Poké Bar.

Located on Young Road between Chilliwack Central and Hocking Avenue, this brand new spot is the perfect stop to grab some lunch with a friend or pick up your dinner and go.

We had the privilege of stopping in for lunch with Culture Co. and it was so difficult to pick what our first meal at Steve’s would be.

Spicy Mayo Salmon

We ended up going with the Mayo Spice Me Up which included:
Spicy Mayo Salmon, hawaiian seasoning (furikake), tobiko, corn, edamame, imitation crab, wakame seaweed salad, pickled ginger, sesame seeds and Steve’s Spicy Mayo drizzled on top

What’s Poké?
Poké, pronounced “POH-KAY”, means “to chop” in Hawaiian. It is chopped cubes of raw fish marinated in Hawaiian salt, spices, and sauces. But hey that’s a mouthful! So when your friends ask, you can tell them that Poke is cubed raw fish marinated with Hawaiian sauces & spices. Check out their menu to see what bowl you’d like to try!

Monthly Feature: The Best Pizza in Chilliwack

Monthly Feature: The Best Pizza in Chilliwack

Last month we featured some great places to enjoy Soup & Sandwich and we figured this month we would check out the best places to have pizza. We have an overwhelming amount of places to choose for pizza in town BUT which ones are the best?

Do you have a favourite place for pizza? Is there a must have we need to try?

Monthly Feature: Warming Up With Local Soup & Sandwiches

October usually brings cooler temps and warmer eats.

Now, we may have had record-breaking heat this past month, but that wasn’t enough to change our cravings for cozy fall food.

We ventured all over Chilliwack looking for best lunch spots - and here are a few of the places we found.

Little Beetle

Located kitty-corner to Old Yale Brewing at South Sumas & Unsworth, Little Beetle offers a breakfast, brunch, and lunch menu that are sure to satisfy any taste buds. We tried the chicken clubhouse and curried chicken soup. It was one of the pricier combos, at $20.95, however the portion and plating reflected that - including crispy potato wedges and artisan bread for dipping.

Multi Pack Foods & Deli

Located in the heart of Downtown Chilliwack, Multi Pack Foods & Deli is a local family-run deli specializing in European meats and cheeses. They have over 50 years of experience in catering, sausage-making, and custom cutting. They offer deli buns, specialty schnitzels and house made soups for lunch on the go!

Major League 2 Taphouse

Major League 2 Taphouse is situated on Gaetz St in Sardis (in behind Frankie’s Italian Kitchen), and offers so much more than just your regular pub fare. Craving a beer along with your house-made sandwich for lunch? This is the place for you!

grilled sandwich and a bowl of sausage soup

Perfekt Deli

Located in the quaint town of Yarrow, the Perfekt Deli is more of a grab & go spot, offering a daily soup feature and a build-your-own sandwich menu. They do offer a picnic table out front, but we decided instead to head one block east to Yarrow Pioneer Park and enjoy the tasty meal - picnic style!

bowl of chili and a deli sandwich sitting on the grass with fall leaves around it

Hugos Mexican Kitchen

Maybe not what you typically picture of when you of “soup & sandwich”, but tacos and tortilla soup is pretty much the same thing, right?

bowl of tortilla soup, with toppings of chips, avocado, radish, and onion on the size

Where do you like to go for your soup & sandwich fix?

We’ve been wandering around Chilliwack with Kristina Legault finding the best Eggs Benny to have and here’s what she had to say…

From Kristina:
As we make our way Around Chilliwack, we popped in to Corner Nook Café on Young Rd. Fun fact, I was the listing agent when it sold in 2019 to the current owner who has maintained the charm and welcoming feel of the restaurant! We arrived slightly before 9am which was perfect as people starting coming in and filling up the restaurant about 10 min after we arrived. We both had eggs benny (of course!) and was a generous sized portion and my favorite, loads of hollandaise to enjoy with the breakfast potatoes. Friendly quick service, great value, fresh hot coffee, welcoming restaurant and fun décor. This corner nook is not to be missed!
